Dee's
Massage
Therapy
My name is Dee, I am a qualified massage therapist offering a range of holistic treatments, treating not just the body but the mind and soul as well. I am a tactile, spiritual woman and I love massaging; I get a real sense of worth and can input positive energy whilst drawing out any negativity. I also love being massaged because I know how beneficial this is. I like to leave a massage feeling refreshed and at one and this is my intention for every treatment I deliver.
I have had an interesting career working with a diverse collection of people over the past 40 years. I have formed deep relationships with nearly all of the people I have met, I have used this connection to tune into how people are feeling as I have a strong intuition into what is needed and have gone on to develop this skill further by training to be a Massage Therapist.
I am mobile and can visit you in the comfort of your own home. If you prefer you can come to my house in Dartford.

"When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything."

Hygiene
A clean work space is the start of your massage experience. All towels and equipment are cleaned between each client and are all washed at high temperatures. I use couch roll for additional cleanliness.

I ask all clients to shower before your massage if possible. “The relaxation effect of a warm shower on both the mind and the
muscles will help you be less tense during the session, which will benefit you as well as the therapist,"
If you are having a treatment which includes the face, please remove all make-up prior to your treatment.
All jewellery should be removed before treatment.
Please allow 10 minutes at the start of your massage to complete an initial consultation form to identify any concerns, I will always check in with you on future appointments for any changes.
You will leave feeling not only that your body is healed but your mind and soul are also calm and stress free. Using oils to suit your body type, an aromatherapy diffuser spritzing a mist of essential oils around the room and with relaxing music in the background all having a profound effect on both the emotions and the body, you will float out the room feeling totally refreshed.
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage also known as Champissage, is a treatment that focuses on massaging acupressure points along the head, neck, and shoulders, often using circular massage strokes to improve hair and scalp conditions. It originates from an Indian alternative medicine system called Ayurveda, (translated as the ‘science of life’). whereby it is believed that the mind and body are intricately connected and thus can influence one another. Though this theory it is understood that Indian Head Massage can not only reduce headaches, and improve physical well-being, but it can also improve mental and emotional wellness too.
My IHM routine will start with you sitting on a chair, bending forward with your head resting on a soft cushion, I will then proceed with a back and shoulder massage, including your arms and concentrating on any tension points. I will then move up to your neck and head and continue massaging and stimulating the flow of blood, lymph, and oxygen in your upper body. I will then gently lift your head to a vertical position and continue the massage along your face and front of scalp

Full body Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is one of the most offered massage techniques
Swedish massage is holistic, treating the mind, body, and soul. When treating the body, the mind and spirit are affected, therefore the treatment is holistic.
Swedish massage and deep tissue massage are both popular types of massage therapy. While there are some similarities, they are different from each other. The differences are the pressure, technique, intended use and areas of focus. It’s sometimes called a classic massage. The technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension.
Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief.
Swedish massage may loosen up tight muscles caused by daily activities such as sitting at the computer or exercising. It can be very helpful for people who hold a lot of tension in their lower back, shoulders, or neck
During a Swedish massage, therapists use kneading, long strokes, deep circular movements passive joint movements
These techniques are meant to: relax you, stimulate nerve endings, increase blood flow and lymph drainage

Back Massage
I offer a 30-minute back massage to focus on lower back pain and pain around the shoulders/scapula, the upper, middle, and lower trapezius muscles.
Lots of people experience ‘knots’, in the neck and around the shoulders. If you are active or lift weights consistently and feel a constant stinging pain in your muscle, the culprit may be muscle knots.
Muscle knots in the neck, shoulder and back are a common phenomenon. Knots occur when the muscles get constricted, which in turn results in severe pain and limited muscular movement. This condition is also referred to as myofascial trigger points.
Know that sharp ache you get after an intense workout that is usually in your neck, shoulders, or upper back? It can be difficult just to move your shoulders without feeling pain, let alone continue with your workout. Even worse, this pain can linger on for weeks, or even months.
Deep tissue massage offers both physical and psychological benefits.Using slower movements and a deeper pressure, the therapist reaches the sub-levels of muscle more effectively compared to other forms of massage.
This form of massage is best used to target lower back pain, muscle tightness in your legs, stiff neck, and upper back pain.
Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness

Pregnancy Massage
I offer a 60-minute pre-natal and post-natal pregnancy massage, massage can only take place after your first trimester.
Benefits of Pregnancy Massage
• Relaxation – massage during pregnancy helps to stop the build-up of tension, especially in the neck and shoulders
• In the later stages of pregnancy tension in the lower back caused by the extra weight of the baby can be alleviated
• Uplifting and revitalising – massage increases the flow of endorphins and minimizes fatigue – usually felt at the start and end of pregnancy
• Improves circulation – veins often become more apparent in pregnancy and there is a tendency to varicose veins (although we never massage over varicose areas!)
• Stimulation of lymphatic drainage – this is especially important during pregnancy because of an increased tendency to fluid retention in ankles and feet
• Relief of aches and pains – massage relieves aches and pains caused by distended ligaments and the tendency to cramp
General Benefits of Massage (pregnant client or not!)
Physiological:
• Boosts circulation – bringing fresh nutrients and oxygen to cells
• Warms tissues
• Superficial and deeper layers of the skin are stimulated – cellular function is increased
• Increases lymphatic flow thus aiding removal of waste products and toxins
• Skin condition improved due to improved circulation and desquamation
• Lactic acid is removed from muscle tissue
• Relaxes tense and contracted muscles
• Stimulates or soothes nerve endings depending on massage movement being used
• Reduces pain and fatigue
• Reduction of blood pressure and pulse rate
Psychological:
• Relaxing or invigorating for mind and body – depending on client’s need
• Can help relieve symptoms of stress – restores the body to state of ‘rest and repose’
• Can help relieve depression by stimulation of endorphins (feel good hormones)
• Maintains skin suppleness and elasticity – helping to prevent stretch marks which often appear around the fifth month
• Induces a feeling of well-being – keeping the client relaxed and in harmony, preparing her for the birth.
Benefits of Post-natal Massage?
Woman who has had a normal delivery can start post-natal massage as soon as they are home from hospital. Usually within the first 5 days after delivery. However post-partum massage after a C-section can only be performed after the wound has sufficiently healed and after advice from the GP.
Post-natal care for mothers is just as important as pre-natal care. An expertly performed Post-natal Massage can not only help you recover from the rigours of childbirth, but it can also help you cope with the challenges of caring for your baby.
Being a new mum can be one of the most fulfilling and emotionally rewarding times of your life. It can also be physically and emotionally stressful. (Often, it can be both at the same time.) Having spent the previous 9 months becoming accustomed to carrying a growing baby, your body now must re-adapt to all the bending, lifting, carrying, and lowering that comes with caring for a new-born.
You’ll often find yourself dozing or resting in awkward or uncomfortable positions – for most mothers a peacefully sleeping baby is worth a little discomfort. And that’s before we’ve even got to the mental and physical impact of breastfeeding and sleep deprivation.
All the above can create areas of significant tension through the body - particularly in the back, neck, and shoulders. It can also place extra stress on muscles you didn’t know you had.
Your massage therapist will be able to target and release these areas to ease any aches and pains, stretch out tight or sore muscles and help realign your posture. As a result, not only can you recover faster from the effects of pregnancy and childbirth, but you’ll also reduce the risk of strains and injuries that affect so many new mothers.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) speeds up the removal of wastes and fluid 20 times faster than letting the body do the work.
From the word itself, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, it involves the lymphatic system. Most people probably don’t know what the lymphatic system is and what it does for the body. It is part of the circulatory system, consisting of a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph back to the blood. Unlike blood, which flows throughout the body in a continuous loop, lymph flows in only one direction – towards the heart returning the lymph into the blood.
Another main function of it is providing defence in the immune system. It contains lymphocytes and other white blood cells. As we about our daily activities, we come into contact with all types of foreign bodies which have the potential to make us sick.
It helps with fatigue, exhaustion and is an important part of the body function.
Why is moving the lymph important to our body?
Everything that eats must also waste. Each cell in your body is constantly eating. The lymph nodes hold the toxins that are pulled from other areas of the body. If these nodes become full, the storage tanks are closed. When this happens, the cells begin to look for other ways to store toxins and create their own “waste” cells. These are referred to as mutant cells. Hence, cancer, auto immune problems, etc.
Facial Rejuvenation with Lymphatic Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage is a highly specialised gentle massage using very accurate hand rhythm, pressure, and sequence applied on the face intended to encourage natural flow of the lymph in the head. Compared to the usual massage, the pressure applied with manual lymph drainage is much lower in strength. The massage works at a skin level manipulating the lymphatic structures located in the subcutaneous tissues to influence the direction and speed of lymphatic flow.
It supports the flushing of toxins from the body, drainage of sinuses, and reduction of fluid retention in the face. This is to re-route the flow of stagnated lymphatic fluid around blocked areas into more centrally located healthy lymphatic vessels which drains into the venous system. Aside from boosting the immune system, detoxification, and relieving congestion, MLD promotes healthy, well hydrated, firm, smooth, and glowing skin.
Recommended Treatment Plan
I recommend 6 treatments, 2 treatments the first week and then once a week for the following 4 four weeks.
What to Expect Post Treatment
Typically, after a treatment you can expect skin to look clearer and feel softer, eyes to be brighter, dark areas below the eyes to lighten, puffiness and congestion to reduce and a more defined jawline.
Pre- and post-surgery MLD
Lymphatic massage which is also known as manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) can relieve the tight, heavy feeling of swelling after a facelift, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast reconstruction, BBL or even orthopaedic surgery. In fact, any sort of surgery will benefit by having a lymphatic treatment.
The short message is with lymphatic massage / MLD as part of your tool kit, this will help reduce your swelling and shorten your post-surgical recovery time and get you back to normal, sooner.
What do you need to plan for?
If you can, please book in for two or three treatments, prior to your surgery as this will help your body and lymphatic system to be prepared for the post-surgical recovery lymphatic massage treatments plus this will help you to be more relaxed.
Recommendations
1. Plan and book in your lymphatic massage treatments as soon as possible after your surgery to reap the benefits
2. Budget for one to two x 90-minute treatments a week for around four to six weeks as a general guideline
3. Follow all your surgeon’s post-surgical care instructions
Outcomes of the Lymphatic Treatments
Many clients feel less tight and heavy with the swelling reduction due to the lymphatic stimulation.
-
Clients also feel less stressed and more relaxed after their treatment due to the relaxation response of the lymphatic sequences.
-
You will have a smooth, even result.
-
Anaesthetics are evacuated from the system more quickly.
-
The inflammatory phase of recovery is sped up.
-
Wound healing is accelerated.
-
Bruising reduction. Cells transported by the lymph system are moved away up to 20 times faster with MLD. Bruises heal in a fraction of the time, allowing clients the ability to resume activities of daily living, without having to wear sunglasses for months to hide bruises.
-
Edema reduction. MLD reroutes lymph fluid to collateral and viable pathways untouched by surgery to allow for accelerated drainage, as opposed to the slow trickle of tissue fluids in the operative site.
-
Pain management. As pressure of lymph fluid decreases around nerves, pain and discomfort are relieved and require less pain medication.
-
Scar-tissue prevention and fibrosis reduction. Lymph fluid left to build up below incisions or sitting in interstitial space can solidify, causing the formation of scar tissue and fibrotic tissue.
-
Relieves constipation which can be an after effect of surgery.
What’s more, it is all natural and with no side effects.

Hot Stone Massage - Hot and cold stone massage - Hot Stone massage with energy work
Hot stone massage dates back to over 3000 years ago to ancient India and China. They used hot and cold volcanic stones for their healing properties. There is evidence that the Ancient Egyptians used healing stones and Native American Indians still use stones during ceremonies and rituals.
Massage using Hot stones
Stones are heated to 130-145 degrees and are slowly introduced to the body, warming the muscles, one stroke of a stone is equivalent to 5/10 strokes of the hand, making it easier to work those knots and tight areas of the body.
Hot and Cold Stone Massage
This massage uses a mix of hot and cold stones to create balance. Once the body is warmed by the hot stones, cold stones can be applied creating a heat exchange. The cooler stone will absorb the heat from the body creating harmony and balance to the mind, body and spirit.
Hot Stone Massage with energy balancing work
Hot stone massage has many benefits, but to really get the true benefit they should be used with a more holistic approach. Helping to heal and balance the mind, body and spirit, just how they were used many years ago. Working through the chakras with placement stones brings the balance of Yin-Yang.
Some benefits of hot stone massage
Here are some advantages of getting a hot stone massage:
Helps relieve muscle tension and pain
Heat has long been used to ease muscle tension and pain. It helps increase blood flow to the affected area. It may also reduce muscle spasms and increase flexibility and range of motion. Cold therapy helps relieve inflammation. Depending on your symptoms, alternating hot and cold stones during your massage may be helpful.
Reduces stress and anxiety
It’s the position of the American Massage Therapy Association that “massage therapy can be effective for stress relief.” Research supports their opinion. Studies show that a ten-minute massage improved cardiovascular responses such as stroke volume.
Promotes sleep
It is said that massage may be an alternative to sleeping pills in adults with insomnia. Research shows that back massage helps promote relaxation and sleep. Studies show that infants with sleep problems who were given a 15-minute massage by their parents went to sleep faster. They were also more alert, active, and positive upon awakening. Massage is thought to help you enjoy more restorative sleep.
May help relieve symptoms of autoimmune diseases
Hot stone massage may relieve painful conditions such as Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes widespread, chronic pain. Studies show that people with fibromyalgia who receive a 30-minute massage sleep longer, have fewer trigger points, and have decreased levels of substance P (a substance involved in transmitting pain signals) than people with the condition who received relaxation therapy. More research is needed, however, before massage becomes a standard fibromyalgia treatment.
Studies show that people with rheumatoid arthritis may benefit from a moderate-pressure massage, such as hot stone massage. Participants in the study experienced less pain, greater grip strength, and a greater range of motion after one month of massage therapy.
It Can Soothe Sore Muscles
Similar to the effects one experiences in a steamy sauna, a stone massage can help relax stiff muscles. The soothing heat from the stones allows the therapist to penetrate deeper into the tissues.
Whether you over-exerted yourself during a workout or suffer from pre-existing injuries or muscle damage, this holistic approach is a natural alternative to painkillers and muscle relaxers.
On a spiritual level, massage activates and balances your body’s energy centres. The heat also works to open up blood vessels, allowing your body to increase blood flow and flush out more toxins.
Higher energy levels lead the way to more vigorous workout sessions, a faster metabolism, and a less stressful lifestyle.
Stone massage is more than an indulgence…it’s a way to “zen” yourself into deep relaxation and improve your emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
